Vezzi Lapolla Mesquita Advogados is the first law firm to receive the Empresa Pró-Ética seal — a partnership between the Comptroller General of the Union and the Ethos Institute of Business and Social Responsibility. The seal, created to promote a more honest, ethical and transparent corporate environment, credits companies that demonstrate their commitment to measures aimed at preventing, detecting and remediating acts of corruption and fraud. The award-winning office, alongside 25 other companies, during the 1st International Conference for the Promotion of Integrity, which takes place on December 12th and 13th, at CGU, proved senior management's commitment to ethics, policies and procedures. Requirements, such as opening communication channels; team training; availability of reporting and remediation channels were also noted in the office.
A central point for the development of these policies is to genuinely believe in the values we are promoting and in the difference we can make in the corporate environment and even in people's lives”, comments Marcelo Lapolla , founder of Vezzi Lapolla Mesquita Advogados. “The practice reflects our belief that 'being in compliance ' is a premise of our operations. Of these, 51% have at least one partnership with large companies, which provide training and mentoring, networking , access to the customer and sales base, hiring a pilot project, among other benefits. Mining also stands out in the partnership between startups and large companies: in January , the Mining Hub was launched in Belo Horizonte, the only mining hub in the world, with the support and participation of 22 mining companies — including Vale, Usiminas, ArcelorMittal and CSN — with the purpose of being a direct channel for open innovation, sector trends and relationships between mining companies, suppliers and technology-based initiatives. The work of startups in the environmental area involves great challenges for their success. In a continental country with sparse environmental legislation, the extreme uncertainty — inherent to the startup concept — to which the company is subjected and the high risk are not only financial, but also legal.
